Focus and Services
My
role as a financial planner and investment advisor is to assist my clients
in reaching an understanding of the money matters in their lives and
making informed financial decisions. Though my special interest is
values or mission-based investing, also known as socially responsible
investing (SRI), I work with clients across the full range
of investment opportunities. Those clients include
individuals, businesses, and organizations.
I have always advocated diversity
and balance as
the key principles in investment. I work
with clients to develop portfolios that fit comfortably with their
time frames and risk tolerances. As a fiduciary, I am legally required
to
put my client’s interests
before my own.
I am a full-disclosure financial advisor, which
means that I clearly explain up front the options for services I will
provide and the costs the client will incur.
I work on either a fee basis—hourly or asset-based, meaning
a percent of the amount under management—or commission. The
first hour of consultation, the exploratory meeting in which I review
client
information/needs
and explain my service, is free.
If you come to me for a financial
plan, perhaps focusing on retirement or education, we would move
through several
steps.
- A fact-finding overview or check-up. This diagnostic step focuses
on legal obligations, insurance needs, tax management, investment goals,
cash flow, budget and similar matters. It may be accomplished face-to-face
or over the phone.
- Analysis of financial information to identify areas that require
attention.
- Presentation of a financial plan that lays out the strategy for achieving
financial goals.
- Periodic reviews to assess the success of the plan implementation.
I am currently licensed to represent securities in the
following states: Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Idaho,
Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska,
North Carolina, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Wisconsin.
Other states may be added upon request.
Other services I offer include:
financial seminars on socially responsible
investment, basic investment and financial wellness; social profile
screening of investments, and; selecting/creating/maintaining retirement
plans for small and large businesses.
It would be difficult for me to
serve my clients well without the support of a competent, loyal and
good-humored office staff: Todd Straughan, Office Manager; Joyce Billings,
Controller; Don Beyer, Staff Assistant.Back

From 1979 to 1996, becoming an associate professor, I taught undergraduate
business and accounting at the University of Wisconsin-Marshfield/Wood
County. In 1989 I took a one-year sabbatical leave to live and work in
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia where I taught business and economics in an associate
degree program for Malay students coming to the United States.
While continuing my connections to education, in
1985 I started my own financial planning business, Lifetime Financial Services,
LLC, where I currently serve as CEO. Through Lifetime I have continued
my work as an educator by offering financial wellness seminars to groups
in the health industry and programs on Socially Responsible Investment
at Wisconsin’s
annual Midwest Renewable Energy Fair. Back to Top
Community
Involvement
In
the mid-70s, my husband and I made a decision to build our lives in the
rural heart of Wisconsin. Community involvement has been a significant
part of our life in Marshfield, and we receive as much as we give. Over
the years, I have served on the boards of Central City Credit Union, Main
Street Marshfield, the Marshfield Area Chamber of Commerce and Industry
(MACCI), the Marshfield Area Community Foundation, and Saint Joseph’s
Hospital. I am past president of the Marshfield Rotary Club and the Marshfield
Area Chamber of Commerce and Industry president for 2005. One of my favorite
local activities has been as head of the Downtown Flower Project, since,
as a gardener, it got me out of the office and into the soil. Other civic
programs important to me include Marshfield Sister Cities and the Marshfield
Cultural Fair. Both have helped to open connections from our small community
to the larger world.Back to Top
