Certified Financial Planner™
Colorado Sustainable Financial Planning
Ken Jacobs provides Financial Planning and Investment Management services for those intending to align their finances with their social and environmental values. His clients include a diverse array of individuals and families, small businesses, and non-profit organizations. Service is always based on a thorough exploration of a client's goals and values. This process includes discussing how his clients think and feel about money, and its role in their lives. This conversation is then used as the basis for identifying appropriate financial strategies and investment tools. Ken works with his clients on an ongoing basis to help them implement and review their plans. Planning focuses on long term goals, especially retirement, education savings, protection, and estate planning, but does so within the context of shorter term goals and circumstances as well.
Ken is a member of US SIF, The Forum for Sustainable and Responsible Investment and the Green America -Green Business Network.
After many years of training and experience at the nexus of Finance and Public Policy, Ken became a Financial Advisor in 1999, and a Certified Financial Planner® in 2002. His practice has always focused on Socially Responsible Investment. Ken graduated from Colorado College (BA, Political Science) and received his Masters from the University of Michigan, Institute of Public Policy Studies. His work there focused on economics, energy, and environmental policy; he cut his teeth on critically evaluating the economics of the nuclear power industry. His professional work began at the Solar Energy Research Institute (now the National Renewable Energy Laboratory) and a Denver economic consulting firm. Before becoming a Financial Advisor, he spent 14 years in Colorado State government, serving as the Budget Director for the Colorado Department of Revenue, and then as a senior staff member at the University of Colorado at Boulder. His first seven years as a Financial Advisor were with New England Financial. He founded Colorado Sustainable Financial Planning (previously Progressive Asset Management of Colorado, Inc.) in 2006.
Ken is involved in many community activities. He has served on the Boards of youth, environmental, and other civic organizations. He likes to volunteer and do grunt work too! He currently is a member of the City of Golden's Election Finance Commission.
I live with my family in Golden, Colorado in the Harmony Village cohousing community. I am a Colorado native, and proud of it. I ski, bike and enjoy many of the other things this beautiful place offers. I like city life too, especially art, good food, and sports. I established Colorado Sustainable Financial Planning here in my own community to create a balance and synergy in my life, which I manage to achieve most of the time.
